Psalm 98

Praise the Judge of the World

A Psalm.

O sing to the Lord a new song,
    for he has done marvelous things.
His right hand and his holy arm
    have gotten him victory.(A)
The Lord has made known his victory;
    he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.(B)
He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
    to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
    the victory of our God.(C)

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
    break forth into joyous song and sing praises.(D)
Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
    with the lyre and the sound of melody.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
    make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord.(E)

Let the sea roar and all that fills it,
    the world and those who live in it.(F)
Let the floods clap their hands;
    let the hills sing together for joy(G)
at the presence of the Lord, for he is coming
    to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness
    and the peoples with equity.(H)

44 Moses came and recited all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he and Joshua[a] son of Nun. 45 When Moses had finished reciting all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “Take to heart all the words that I am giving in witness against you today; give them as a command to your children, so that they may diligently observe all the words of this law.(A) 47 This is no trifling matter for you but rather your very life; through it you may live long in the land that you are crossing over the Jordan to possess.”(B)

42 So Jesus called them and said to them, “You know that among the gentiles those whom they recognize as their rulers lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. 43 But it is not so among you; instead, whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant,(A) 44 and whoever wishes to be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many.”(B)
